Description
Join RE expert, Matt Lane, as he shares a lesson which allows children to explore the question, Why do many religions have festivals of light? In this lesson we will explore three major festivals: Christmas; Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha; and Diwali. Children will explore three festivals that have very different theological bases but are all celebrated in similar ways. Whilst Eids are not considered festivals of light in the same way as Christmas and Diwali, lights still play an important role in the marking the occasions. Children will use sociological skills to compare the similar lived experiences of these festivals. *It is advisable to split this lesson over 2 or 3 sessions.
