Description

Lesson 3: Two Homes, One Family This session helps children explore some of the changes and feelings that can occur when parents separate and family life begins to look different. Through Amara's Two Front Doors, children consider what it might be like to have two homes, different routines and times when they miss one parent while they are with the other. Through discussion, practical activities and creative learning, children explore what may change and what can remain. They are encouraged to recognise that a child may prefer one home, find a new arrangement difficult or enjoy something in one home while still missing someone in the other. The emphasis is on understanding that changes within family life can bring genuine feelings of loss, while reassuring children that they do not have to choose sides. Relationships, love, memories and belonging can continue even when a family begins living differently.
