Description
Through experiences including imprisonment, adoption and foster care, family estrangement, parental job loss and addiction, young people explore losses that may receive little recognition or support from others. The lesson introduces disenfranchised grief and examines how stigma, assumptions and judgement can lead to silence, loneliness, isolation and reduced support. Young people consider the gap between what other people see and what somebody may actually be experiencing, while recognising that acknowledging grief does not mean approving of the circumstances surrounding it.
