Who Am I?

Mohamed Saleh was born in 1992 in Nagrig, a small village in the Gharbia Governorate of Egypt, around 120 kilometres northwest of Cairo. His father worked in hospital administration, and his mother was a homemaker. He grew up in a close, humble household with his siblings. From an early age, he loved football, joining local youth clubs before moving to Cairo to pursue the sport more seriously. In 2010, he signed his first professional contract with Al Mokawloon, before a move to Europe took him to Switzerland, then Italy and eventually to Chelsea in England. It was a loan spell at AS Roma that reignited his career, and in 2017, he joined Liverpool FC, where he quickly became one of the most feared forwards in world football. Since then, he has broken numerous Premier League records and helped Liverpool win major trophies, including the Champions League and Premier League title. As captain of the Egyptian national team, he has led his country to the World Cup on two occasions, most recently in 2026, where they reached the knockout stages before a narrow defeat to Argentina. He is a proud and devout Muslim, married with two daughters, and despite his global fame, he has always tried to remain close to his roots and the village that raised him.

What Am I Known For?

Beyond his achievements on the pitch, he is known for the strengths he tries to live by every day. Kindness sits at the heart of everything he does. Since 2017, his charitable foundation has funded schools, an ambulance service and ongoing financial support for widows, orphans and struggling families back in Nagrig, because he never forgot where he came from. As captain of Egypt, leadership has been key, not just directing play on the pitch but using his voice for causes he believes in, including women's equality in the Middle East and speaking out firmly against racism and discrimination. Perhaps what people find most surprising is his humility. Despite being one of the wealthiest and most recognised footballers in the world, he lives a quiet family life in Liverpool, avoids unnecessary media attention and still thinks of himself first as a boy from a small village rather than a global superstar. He believes that success means very little if it changes how you treat others, and his story is a great example of how you can achieve extraordinary things while staying grounded, generous and true to your values.
