Who Am I?

Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California, to parents who had emigrated from India and Jamaica. Her parents were activists who advocated for equality and civil rights. This instilled a strong sense of justice in Kamala and inspired her to become a lawyer. She failed her first bar exam, but that didn’t stop this daughter of immigrant parents from trying again – and succeeding.

What Am I Known For?

Since then, Kamala Harris has been a vocal champion of progressive reforms and women’s rights and has broken lots of glass ceilings while doing it - including being the first African American and Asian woman to become Vice President of the USA. She rallies for fairness and equality for everyone and always fights for what she believes in, even when the odds are against her. Her bid for the Presidency was unsuccessful and it remains to be seen where her perseverance, sense of fairness and leadership skills will take her next.
