Who Am I?

Elliot Page is a Canadian actor who was assigned female at birth and named Ellen. He began his acting career in 1997, starring in several successful TV series and movies. He has been nominated for, and won, many prestigious acting awards, including two BAFTAs and a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2007, he rose to prominence and made a major breakthrough for his leading role as the title character in the film Juno. This film is considered one of the best of the 2000s, largely due to his contribution.

What Am I Known For?

Elliot made headlines when he announced in December 2020 that he is a trans man and now uses the pronouns he and they. It was an incredibly brave thing to do, but then Elliot has always been courageous, whether in the movie roles he played or in speaking up about important issues. Elliot realises that his coming out can help many others struggling with their own issues. Elliot has fought through fear, judgements, and discrimination to come to where he is now. It took courage for him to defy pressure from the Hollywood industry and be true to himself even when he was discriminated against for his sexuality.

Elliot is a strong advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and is actively engaged in speaking out to reduce ‘queerphobia’. In his memoir ‘Pageboy’, Elliot bravely shares his journey of self-discovery in a very inspirational way.
