Let’s Get Walking This May!

Primary school students exploring real-world science with hands-on activities

May is National Walking Month - the perfect time for children (and adults!) to lace up their shoes and enjoy the simple pleasure of walking. Walking is free, fun and full of health benefits but is often overlooked as a form of exercise. Just 10 minutes of brisk walking a day has great benefits for our physical and mental health, helping us to feel more focused, calm and energised.

National Walking Month is a great opportunity to talk about the benefits of walking and to encourage children to get outside, explore their surroundings and develop healthy habits that last a lifetime.

To help get everyone moving, we’ve put together a checklist of 20 fun and easy walking ideas that can be sent home or used in school - perfect for putting a spring in your step this May!
